Project Botomons

A digital tool to gamify Data Literacy
2019 finalist of Mozilla Creative Media Awards




Project Purpose 
‘Project Botomons’ aims to demystify the presence and implications of AIML in our internet life by making it more visible, tangible and fun to understand.

How will we do it?
We intend to break down, simplify, and make ML algorithms surrounding us in our daily lives and give people the possibility to understand these algorithms by personifying them as characters.


Users’ Experience of the project
We imagine these algorithms as rare Creatures(Botomons) who live in the web-ecosystem. Like a biologist, nature enthusiast or a Pokemon trainer goes out to explore & understand untamed, unknown creatures in nature, the user is also on a journey to spot these AI Botomons in the wilderness of the Internet. You can locate these Botomons lurking  behind the blocks of text, or munching on news feed, or next to the new discover weekly stream.




Each Botomon you locate & spot becomes a part of Botodex Journal which  allows you to learn more about their diet, habits, lifestyle and even how to tame them, make friends or stay clear of them.



Overtime the explorers would be equipped to spot, identify and learn how to engage with these creatures. Perhaps they can also take the role of researchers and contribute in understanding the unknown, mystical and legendary Botomons and expand the Botodex with new entries and have new stories to tell the world.
